Housing development at Bathampton, Bath, UK

When an existing tenant was outgrowing its current premises in Bath their landlord, Davies Street Properties, called on Development Solutions to assist. We identified a disused former sawmill and timber merchants on the outskirts at Bathampton.

The acquisition was negotiated on favourable terms and a plan was devised to bring this brownfield site back into use. The process was complicated by the fact that the site sits in both Green Belt, and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), as well as being adjacent to an SSSI. Nevertheless, a Certificate of Lawful Use or Development, as B8 storage & distribution was successfully obtained.

Then in 2014, after 15 years of work, and despite similar planning constraints, consent was secured for a housing development. Partnering with Charlcombe Homes we oversaw the redevelopment of this brownfield site to provide 10 high end houses, each on a level site of over a quarter of an acre, together with 5 affordable homes.
