Friars Walk Shopping CentreNewport, Wales This new 390,000 sq ft shopping centre, comprising 35 retail outlets, restaurants, a bowling alley and a cinema, was delivered through a joint venture between the private developer and the Council. The proposed exit route was through a sale of the completed investment enabling the Council to recoup its investment and the developer to secure its development profit. The Council required advice on the project including due diligence on the development, particularly in terms of signing off a future disposal by means of a sale of the completed investment. Friars Walk was sold to Canadian investment company, Talisker Corporation, allowing the Council to repay its loan..
